Alpha Celiac Gal is a travel and lifestyle blog written by Nichole Holze at alphaceliacgal.com. This policy explains what information this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Plain language, no games.
Information you give me directly
You only share information with me when you choose to. That happens in three places:
- Contact form. If you send me a message, I receive your name, email address, subject, and message. I use it to reply to you and nothing else.
- Comments. If you leave a comment, the site stores your name, email address, comment, IP address, and browser user agent string. This is standard WordPress behavior and helps with spam detection.
- Email list. If you subscribe, I collect your email address and any name you provide, so I can send you the newsletter and any resource you signed up for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link and it works immediately.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, this one collects some technical information as you browse. That includes your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and time spent on the site. This is aggregated and used to understand what content is useful.
If you upload an image to the site, avoid uploading images with embedded location data, since other visitors can extract it.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. This site uses them to remember your comment details if you choose that option, to keep you logged in if you have an account, and to power analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
Third party services
The following services may receive data when you visit:
- Google Analytics, via MonsterInsights, for traffic and audience analytics.
- Jetpack, by Automattic, for site statistics, security, and performance.
- OptinMonster, for email signup forms.
- Contact Form 7, which processes contact form submissions.
- Bluehost, which hosts the site and keeps standard server logs.
- Affiliate networks, when you click an affiliate link. See the section below.
Each of these has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data. I do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.
Affiliate links and partnerships
Some posts contain affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you buy something through them, at no extra cost to you. Some posts may also cover hosted stays, meals, or gifted products. These relationships are always disclosed on the post itself.
An affiliate relationship never changes what I tell you about a place. If a restaurant was not safe, I say so, whether or not there is a commission attached.

Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data this site holds about you, and to object to processing.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. Again, I do not sell personal information.
Wherever you live, you can email me and ask what I have and ask me to delete it. I will do it. If you have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data I hold about you.
How long data is kept
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow up comments can be recognized and approved automatically. Contact form submissions are kept until I have resolved your message and then deleted periodically. Email list data is kept until you unsubscribe.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information here, email me and I will delete it.
Security
This site runs over HTTPS and I take reasonable measures to protect your information. No website can promise perfect security, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

Nothing on this site is medical advice. I have lived with Celiac Disease and Alpha Gal Syndrome for over a decade, which makes me experienced, not a physician. Always talk to a qualified healthcare provider about your own diagnosis, testing, and treatment.
